So tomorrow I will be flying out to Vegas to meet up with my best friend and a ton of other photographer friends for 5 days at WPPI. This is only the largest photography convention in the world and it happens each year in Vegas. Every other time I haven’t been able to go. I was either, broke, pregnant, just had a baby, didn’t want to leave my baby or just didn’t think that I would EVER be able to go. It seemed like only the coolest of the cool photographers went. They did fancy shoots with other celebrity photographers, spent their days at cool photographer club meetings and gave out fancy awards for being so cool. Basically, if you are anybody in the photographer world, you are THERE. So once again, I didn’t think that I would be able to go this year. Well with the thanks and huge nudge of my bff, I am proud to say that I will be going to this ‘cool photographer club thingy’ and I couldn’t be happier.
Here are ten things that I hope to accomplish during the next 5 days in Vegas free from husbands, babies and responsiblities:
1. Meet Jasmine Star and try not to make a complete dork of myself.
2. Watch the dancing water fountain at the Bellagio Hotel.
3. Star as an extra in CSI.
4. Play $10.00 on slot machines. I know, I’m a BIG spender.
5. Catch up with my buddy, David Jay in the INVITE only, super cool secret photography club meeting.
6. Ride a roller coaster on top of the Stratosphere Hotel.
7. Have my picture taken in front of the Eiffel Tower.
8. Meet Elvis and have a picture taken as proof.
9. Eat at In-N-Out Burger.
10. Steal Mike Tyson’s tiger.
I will post pictures from our trip when I get back on Friday so everyone can share in the joy of Vegas. I hope that everyone has a great week, I know that I will

I had heard about it. I saw a few clips of it on Oprah. My best friend watched it and said she will never think the same way about food. A few weeks ago, Brian and I decided it was time to watch, FOOD INC.

I will never look at food the same way.
This movie shocked me. It taught me about oblivious we have all been to where our food comes from and how it is prepared. It’s disgusting, disturbing but most of all, life changing. After watching it, I immediately went and cleaned out our pantry. I decided right then and there that I was going to go vegetarian. I’m not saying that all meat is bad, there are some pretty amazing farmers out there that are actually raising animals humanly, with respect and without feeding them crap. I’m just not quite ready to eat it again. Not for a long while.
Brian and I have also decided that we are going to go 100% organic. We aren’t trying to get all hippy on everyone, we just want to eat the best that we can and to raise a happy, healthy child. I want to get back to the basics and eat as naturally as possibly. We are going to plant a garden and start shopping at our local farmers market. It’s pretty exciting to grow your own food and to be able to walk outside and pick fresh vegetables. I mean, isn’t that what people used to do?
I challenge everyone to first see the movie. Then do what you can to live a longer, healthier happier life. Plant a garden, drive past the drive thru instead of thru it. Eat organic and demand to know where your food comes from.
Another thing that I am completely absorbed with right now is The Omnivore’s Dilemma, by Michael Pollan. He is involved in the movie Food Inc. and gives you an in depth description of how your food is made. Pretty amazing and I think that everyone should read it.
Happy Eating!
