As a photographer, it is sometimes hard to explain why it is that I do what I do. Why I choose to photograph weddings more weekends out of the year than not. It’s hard to put it into words. I love weddings for many reasons. I love the energy that is streaming through the air on a wedding day, I love seeing all of their ideas, hours of planning and every single detail, finally coming together. I love it all. There are experiences, that even though I am seeing it through the lens of my camera, I am whole-heartedly in.the.moment. with them. This weekend, I had that moment. I was reminded of why I do this. Why I love weddings and why I can’t possibly imagine doing anything else.
In this moment, I got chills, I laughed with her and even cried with her. All behind the lens of my camera. Vanessa was about to marry Andrew. As she stood there in front of the chapel doors, she waited for the traditional dumm-dum-duh-dumm…dummm.dummm…. and then the doors to open. She stood there with her arms holding her dad, squealing, ‘Dad, it’s really happening! I am so EXCITED!!” It was a moment that no one could deny. A moment she will remember for the rest of her life, and a moment that I was proud to share with her. It is for this reason why I do what I do and why I am so in love with it.

Happy Wednesday!!
