Going Vegetarian.

I had heard about it. I saw a few clips of it on Oprah. My best friend watched it and said she will never think the same way about food. A few weeks ago, Brian and I decided it was time to watch, FOOD INC.

Food In

I will never look at food the same way.

This movie shocked me. It taught me about oblivious we have all been to where our food comes from and how it is prepared. It’s disgusting, disturbing but most of all, life changing. After watching it, I immediately went and cleaned out our pantry. I decided right then and there that I was going to go vegetarian. I’m not saying that all meat is bad, there are some pretty amazing farmers out there that are actually raising animals humanly, with respect and without feeding them crap. I’m just not quite ready to eat it again. Not for a long while.

Brian and I have also decided that we are going to go 100% organic. We aren’t trying to get all hippy on everyone, we just want to eat the best that we can and to raise a happy, healthy child. I want to get back to the basics and eat as naturally as possibly. We are going to plant a garden and start shopping at our local farmers market. It’s pretty exciting to grow your own food and to be able to walk outside and pick fresh vegetables. I mean, isn’t that what people used to do?

I challenge everyone to first see the movie. Then do what you can to live a longer, healthier happier life. Plant a garden, drive past the drive thru instead of thru it. Eat organic and demand to know where your food comes from.

Another thing that I am completely absorbed with right now is The Omnivore’s Dilemma, by Michael Pollan. He is involved in the movie Food Inc. and gives you an in depth description of how your food is made. Pretty amazing and I think that everyone should read it. Omnivores DelimmaHappy Eating! :)
