She is just days away from meeting her sweet little man. Pregnancy is a funny thing. The light at the end of the tunnel is so dim that you think you may never get to it. Then one day you wake up and your baby isn’t a baby anymore. No, they are five years old. They can dress themselves, feed themselves and all those pregnancy and baby moments are now a fleeting memory. At least that is how it was for me.

This beautiful mommy-to-be has had quite a journey that has led up to this. When I think about what inspires me, it’s stories like hers. I love documenting life. I love fresh beginnings, sleepless nights and the unimaginable love that only a mother can have for her baby. This is what I love to do. These are the journeys that make my heart whole…

Happy Valentines Day

From the beginning, our relationship has been pretty unconventional. I was never the girl that dreamed of a big wedding. Never wanted to wear the big white dress or have the big party. I wanted to get married on the beach, with my bare-feet in the sand standing next to the man I love. I did just that. Brian and I were married on a private beach in Maui on a Tuesday morning at 9am. I was barefoot and stood next to the man of my dreams. It was everything that I ever dreamed of.

Fast forward seven and a half years later. Our home is full of cars, dinosaurs, crumbs on the floor and more love than I could ever imagine. Life is funny that way. I never thought that this is where I would be when I was younger. I knew that I wanted to be a mom but didn’t fully understand the extent of that role. No one told me that love was stealing wet kisses from a two year old or reading Thomas books for the 10th time that day. It’s building dinosaur models and having conversations about asteroids and the planets. Love is feeding the kids first so we can sit down and enjoy our dinner while they run in circles around us. It’s getting them bathed, pj’s on and snuggled in their beds. Love is this home. This life that we have created and grown. It’s my children. It is my love for my husband. God how I love that man. When I think of Valentines Day, I think of these things. I’ve never been a fan of this day until I had children. Now I look forward to my scribbles from Sam and the handmade Valentine Cards from Jonas. This is what the day is all about. Everyone in your life that has inspired you, that loves you and that holds a piece of your heart.
